This is the first Siteorama Issue which I want to present herewith. Siteorama is a panorama of construction sites. It is based on a personal and subjective selection of ongoing construction sites in Vienna, the city I live and work in.

20er Haus, Karl Schwanzer / Adoption by Adolf Krischanitz

Karl Schwanzer, Exhibition Pavilion 1959 / Adolf Krischnitz, Adaption 2003 (Year of Design)

Restauration of a true icon of modern architecture in Vienna: Karl Schwanzer’s 20er Haus, a former exhibition pavilion for the world fair in Brussels in 1959. It was disessebled after the world fair and reassembled in Vienna. It used to be a hot spot for art in the 60ies, 70ies and 80ies. Now it is intended to be brought back to live. There will be an adoption by Architect Adolf Krischnitz. The building is part of the Belvedere Museum.

The total strip tease of the construction allows us to look at the beautiful skeleton of the building + the new subterranean magazine.

Architekten Neumann + Steiner ZT, Railway Station, Year of design 2002

There are three main train stations in Vienna – and all of them are under reconstruction at the moment. Here is the Westbahnhof conversion. The entrance hall by Hartiger & Wöhnhart (1952) is protected by the state office for protection of historical monuments and will be an integrated part of the new design.

Aspern Urban Development Area

Flugfeld Aspern (Airfield), Urban development by Tovatt Architects and Planners 2006

On this pic one can see the airstrip, which is meanwhile demolished. There will be an artificial see, residential houses, shops and office buildings. An urban mixture to be settled on the green fields. Architectural competitions decide about the buildings.
Here’s the developers website aspern + Die Seestadt Wien.
